Wyoming Medical Society Advocacy Tenets
The Wyoming Medical Society sets advocacy positions in alignment with the five tenets outlined below. Any legislative or policy proposal under review by WMS leadership will be analyzed as to its alignment with the following statements:
- WMS will oppose any legislation that seeks to criminalize Physicians, PAs, or the practice of medicine.
- WMS will oppose any act by the legislature to direct any aspect of medicine including but not limited to outlawing any form of care; setting specifications that aim to direct the practice of medicine; indenturing any individual or group to a specific service/task/procedure within the general field of medicine, or others
- WMS will advocate to maintain Physician and PA autonomy in clinical decision-making and medical practice decisions with their patients.
- WMS advocacy work is free from partisan ideology. That is, we will not develop any position based on a specific partisan belief, structure, or ideology.
- WMS advocacy is free from any one person’s, or group’s, individual and personal beliefs, and dictated rather by the WMS mission with the above tenets as a guide.
